First Day of School!

So today was our first day of school! It was crazy fun! I have two separate classes of 2nd grade but we combined them today and I brought a blow up globe from home (Kristen gave it to me =) and so we played the name game with that and then we played bear, man, gun game... it was super fun and the kids loved it. I got a sticker and a gorgeous picture of a house drawn for me. We had a birthday party for the Pastor today and we had cake that was so weird! lol. And ice cream that had raisins in it and it tastes carbonated. Weird. And banana pop. hmm... I dunno... I'm super excited about ti though. I only have a few boys that I think will be a little difficult. Can't wait!

ALMOST SCHOOL TIME!

So my computer crashed and is no longer working. This is slightly upsetting to me but I am trying to remember that I will be fine without it. Some of the other girls have computers so I will be using there's I guess. Kind of annoying. Well we have been decorating all week and sightseeing on the side. We have walked this town up and down and still haven't even covered more than a sliver! The girls and I have started doing this thing at worship every night where we put in questions in a cup and draw one out for all of us to answer every night. it's really fun, we have talked about a lot of deep stuff and have been growing together in awesome ways. I'm so glad to have them. We start school tomorrow and I'm so scared! It's going to be crazy! I have to memorize 60 kids names. I am so bad with names... considering taking a picture of each one of them. lol. Maybe not, I dunno. Keep praying, we all need it! Oh yes, Rice and Beans are our staple food, we eat them almost everyday. Yesterday I got a bad stomach ache then last night I woke up to this rain that was SO LOUD. Then here is a little story for you: I was laying there with my stomach feeling as though someone just punched it and the rain was falling and being so loud. I was thinking about how there was going to be UGE spiders on the walls because they were all going to come inside to get away from the flood but then all the sudden there was the loudest thunder I have ever heard in my life and it scared me so bad! I jumped out of bed and ran in place and then Heidi was awake so I jumped into bed with her. it was utterly hilarious. She did a replay for me and told me I lookked like a hamster on a wheel. lol. Good times.

Friday is here

Wow we have so much to do! Our yearly plans have to be done by Monday as well as our 2 week detailed plan. And all the decorations for the classroom. I realized today that I can draw sheep. Haha. You learn new things everyday! God is so good. All of us girls get together every night and last night was a particularly good night. We are all there for each other and it´s so comforting. We all want the same thing.. and that is to serve God. That´s why we´re here. It is going to be tough for sure, but so rewarding. Something I won´t ever wish I didn´t do. I can´t wait to start school and get this teaching thing going... send us anything! lol.

Let´s get it started....

Today we found out what we are teaching for sure and I am teaching 2nd grade Bible, Science, and Math and then 7th grade literature. So I am completely in over my head but I´m super excited! Once we get started it shouldn´t be too bad but we all need to make a whole overview of what we want to do week by week for the year for each class and that task is daunting. I can´t wait to get all this underway!

My address!

My address is
Kandice Bolster
c/o Esquela Maranatha
P.O. Box 322
Comayagua, Comayagua, Honduras
I made it here alive and I´m safe and sound! We had a storm last night which was so cool! It rains buckets here! They call it hombre rain because it is huge drops. We have been in orientation to try and learn h ow to teach. I still don´t know how. God is with us and it has been so much fun to have our own little house which we have killed a total of 13 cockroaches at this point. I love them. Not. We all need prayers as we are figuring out what we are teaching and trying to plan lesson plans. We really have no idea what we are doing. I´m so excited to see what God has in store for me. I´m trying to see why I was picked to do this job because I feel so completely inadequate. I am. But I know that with God I can become a little more adequate. I can´t explain how weird it is to think about 10 months. That is a long time. I can do it. God will help me. Please keep us all in your prayers... Heidi, Sasha, Bethani, Kristin, Kayla, Andrea. We need prayers big time. Have a good day!
